On March 17, 1898, Reverend E. J. Dunn purchased a 300 square foot plot of land located on the west side of Highway 70, approximately 1/2 mile south of Clarendon. The cemetery was purchased for $2.00. The first recorded burial was three years later on Feb 2, 1901.
Records in the early years traveled with the priest and were subsequently lost. In 1995 the records were reconstructed and the discovery was made that seven people were buried in the cemetery without markers. Their names are to be engraved on a large center marker and markers engraved with "Child of God" are to be place don lots identifed as occupied.
